STONE SOUR Drummer Talks Next Album; Video Available

Sabian's Paragon Lounge recently conducted an interview with STONE SOUR drummer Roy Mayorga about the songwriting processs for the band's next studio and album and his drum set-up. Watch the chat below.

STONE SOUR has scrapped previously announced plans to work with producer Rob Cavallo on its third studio album. No reason was given for the departure of Cavallo, whose credits include GREEN DAY, PARAMORE, KID ROCK, MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE, SHINEDOWN, AVRIL LAVIGNE and others. Instead, STONE SOUR will begin work on the new record at Blackbird Studio in Nashville with producer Nick Raskulinecz, known for his work with FOO FIGHTERS, RUSH and ALICE IN CHAINS.

Raskulinecz previously worked with STONE SOUR on the band's gold-selling 2006 effort, "Come What(ever) May".

STONE SOUR frontman Corey Taylor said in a statement, "I cannot wait to make this STONE SOUR album. Everything already feels a million times stronger than anything we've done in the past. Plus getting back together with Nick is going to mean monstrous things. This is the year for STONE SOUR."

Regarding the musical direction of STONE SOUR's next CD, Mayorga previously said, "It's sounding very different from the last record in every way now that there are five writers, including myself. Some songs are heavy, dark, melodic and with a lot of color. A very well-rounded record this is going to be."

Both previous STONE SOUR albums have sold more than half a million copies and are approaching the platinum mark in sales, bolstered by hits like "Bother", "Through Glass" and "Silly World".

Taylor and STONE SOUR guitarist Jim Root also play in SLIPKNOT.
